A diagnosis is not the end

Cancer does not mean the end of your story.

What paralyzes you is not the diagnosis: it is not knowing what it means. When you understand exactly where you stand and what can be done, fear begins to give way to clarity, confidence and hope.

Dr. Ricardo Brandina

No man is only a diagnosis. No surgery is only a surgery.

That is 25 years of medicine dedicated to Urology and, today, to treating prostate cancer and kidney cancer. In that time I have learned that the hardest decision is almost never about technique: it is about what needs to be preserved so that life still makes sense afterward.

Beyond being a doctor, I am a man, I am a father, and I have also overcome cancer myself. I know the impact a diagnosis has, and how much changes when fear gives way to information, experience and hope.

“Behind every diagnosis there is a story, a family, many plans and someone who simply needs to find the way.”

Dr. Ricardo Brandina

A complete approach to overcoming cancer and living a new story.

The protocol I created to guide every patient from diagnosis back to life.

  1. 01

    Complete clarity

It all starts with you being heard. A complete, individualized evaluation so you understand your diagnosis and your treatment options.

  2. 02

    Ultra-precise surgery

Fast robotic surgery, with the least possible trauma to the body and the greatest possible preservation: urinary control, sexual life and renal function.

  3. 03

    A new story

Discharge usually within 24 hours and close follow-up from the team, so you can go back to making plans alongside the people you love.

From diagnosis to a new story.

Pioneering · Robotic surgery

Before robotic surgery existed in Brazil, I was already preparing for the future.

When robotic surgery was still practically nonexistent in Brazil, I gave up everything I had built here and moved with my family to the United States to seek out the most advanced cancer treatment in the world. I was a Research Fellow at Cleveland Clinic and a Clinical Fellow in Robotic Surgery at the University of Southern California.

I did not wait for the technology to reach me. I went after it.

Today I lead the Robotic Surgery program at Hospital Evangélico de Londrina.

The Brandina Legacy

Pioneering spirit runs across generations.

On June 10, 1973, my father, Dr. Lauro Brandina, led the team that performed the first kidney transplant in Paraná, at Hospital Universitário de Londrina. The patient lived more than 30 years with the transplanted organ.

A medical graduate of USP, he spent 24 years as a professor at UEL, chaired the Kidney Transplant Department of the Sociedade Brasileira de Urologia and trained generations of urologists — always with the same simplicity and the same commitment to the patient.

I grew up inside that kind of medicine. Today, the same organ he learned to transplant is one of the organs I treat with robotic surgery. That is the legacy I honor with every new story.
